This Whistleblowing Policy outlines how individuals can raise concerns in good faith and how those concerns will be addressed.

1. Purpose of This Policy

The purpose of this policy is to:

  • Encourage the reporting of unethical, illegal, or unsafe activities
  • Protect whistleblowers from retaliation
  • Ensure reported concerns are properly investigated and resolved
  • Strengthen transparency and accountability within the Foundation

2. What Can Be Reported?

This policy applies to any suspected misconduct, including but not limited to:

  • Fraud, bribery, or corruption
  • Misuse of donor funds or Foundation resources
  • Harassment, abuse, or discrimination
  • Unethical behavior by staff, volunteers, or board members
  • Conflict of interest or policy violations
  • Health, safety, or environmental risks

5. Confidentiality & Protection

We treat all whistleblower reports with strict confidentiality. The identity of the whistleblower will not be disclosed without their consent, except as required by law.

Whistleblowers who report in good faith will be protected from retaliation, victimization, or harassment. Any retaliatory action will be treated as a serious disciplinary offense.

6. Investigation Process

Upon receiving a report:

  • An initial review will be conducted by the designated Whistleblowing Officer or the Ethics & Compliance Committee.
  • If warranted, a formal investigation will be initiated.
  • Appropriate corrective or disciplinary action will be taken based on findings.
  • Whistleblowers may be updated on the progress and outcome, where appropriate.

7. False or Malicious Reports

Deliberately making false or malicious allegations is not protected under this policy and may result in disciplinary or legal action.

8. Policy Review

This policy is reviewed annually to ensure continued relevance and compliance with Kenyan law and global NGO governance standards.
